The labor allocation is simple by design. The customer sees the labor amount; the handyman and platform shares are calculated from that labor—not hidden inside unrelated charges.

Minimum labor rate / billable hour
The rule
Five-sixths for labor. One-sixth for the platform.
At least $25 of the $30 minimum hourly labor rate goes to the handyman, and $5 goes to Ruiz Home Services. For labor above the minimum, the same five-sixths / one-sixth allocation applies.

What is separate
Labor is not the entire total.
Keeping other categories outside the labor split prevents materials, taxes, or fees from being mistaken for worker pay or platform commission.
Applicable tax
Any tax that applies is its own category, not silently subtracted from the worker’s labor share.
Payment processing
Processing fees are a platform operating cost and are not silently deducted from provider labor or tips.
Other adjustments
Tips, cancellations, credits, or approved scope changes must remain distinct, traceable categories.
For the handyman
The labor share scales with the job.
The model does not freeze the platform at $5 when labor pricing rises. Both shares scale proportionally, while the handyman retains five-sixths of labor.
For the customer
The total should be understandable before confirmation.
Rate, billable time or defined scope, materials, applicable taxes, processing, tips, and adjustments should appear as distinct items—not a single unexplained charge.
A rate is not a complete quote.
V1 has a 60-minute minimum and rounds additional time up in 15-minute increments. The final amount also depends on the accepted scope, materials, applicable taxes, and any customer-approved change order shown in the request-specific breakdown.
