1. Agreement and scope
These Terms govern access to the Ruiz Home Services website and platform (“RHS,” the “Service,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Request-specific terms, an accepted scope, or a payment disclosure may add to these Terms. If there is a conflict, the more specific accepted term controls for that request.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter an agreement. Provide accurate information, keep your sign-in method secure, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless applicable law provides otherwise.
Customer signup does not create provider privileges. Provider access is invitation-only after administrative review; users may not self-assign, impersonate, or bypass a provider or administrator role.
3. Requests are reviewed, not guaranteed
Submitting a request does not guarantee acceptance, a provider match, availability, timing, price, payment acceptance, or completion. RHS may ask for more information, limit the scope, pause the workflow, redirect the request, or decline it. Photos and remote review cannot reveal every site condition.
4. Service boundaries and emergencies
RHS is not an emergency service and is not monitored as one. Call 911 for immediate danger and use the appropriate utility, building, landlord, superintendent, NYCHA, 311, licensed-trade, or specialist channel for the condition.
Regulated, permit-required, structural, hazardous-material, building-system, gas, electrical, concealed plumbing, and other high-risk work is not ordinary handyman work. A request category, profile, or review cannot override law, licensing, permits, certifications, leases, or building rules. See the Safety and Service Boundaries page.
5. Building permission and site access
You are responsible for disclosing applicable lease, management, board, superintendent, COI, work-hour, elevator, sign-in, access, pet, parking, and contractor requirements. Do not schedule or authorize work you lack authority to approve. A provider may leave or decline to start when access is unsafe, unauthorized, materially different, or inconsistent with disclosed requirements.
6. Pricing and labor allocation
The minimum customer labor rate is $30 per billable hour. At the minimum, at least $25 is allocated to the handyman and $5 to RHS. Above the minimum, five-sixths of the labor subtotal is allocated to the handyman and one-sixth to RHS.
Materials, applicable taxes, payment processing, tips, credits, cancellations, and other adjustments are separate from labor. A rate alone is not a complete quote. Review the accepted scope, pricing basis, billable-time terms, and itemized total presented for the request.
7. Payment, refunds, and disputes
When payment is required, you authorize the disclosed amount and method. Payment status is determined by trusted server and payment-processor records, not only by a browser confirmation screen. Refund, cancellation, no-show, adjustment, and dispute terms must be disclosed for the relevant request; do not assume a policy that is not presented and accepted. Do not initiate duplicate disputes or make knowingly false payment claims.
8. Changes and out-of-scope work
If the conditions, requested work, price, required credential, or risk changes materially, the affected work should pause for re-scoping. You may not pressure a provider to perform undisclosed, illegal, unsafe, unlicensed, unpermitted, or prohibited work. No verbal request overrides a documented safety or legal boundary.
9. Provider relationship and qualifications
Any provider’s relationship, compensation, responsibilities, and work terms are governed by the applicable provider and request-specific agreements. Do not infer employment status, insurance, background screening, license, certification, endorsement, or availability unless the Service explicitly verifies and displays that fact for the relevant scope. Task-specific legal and building requirements always control.
10. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to:
- request illegal, unsafe, deceptive, discriminatory, exploitative, or prohibited activity;
- bypass authentication, role controls, payment controls, access limits, or security measures;
- upload malware, scrape the Service, overload infrastructure, probe for vulnerabilities without written authorization, or interfere with another user;
- misrepresent identity, ownership, authority, job conditions, credentials, payment status, or building approval;
- publish or upload another person’s private information without authority.
11. Platform availability and changes
The Service may change, pause, limit, or discontinue features, service areas, categories, enrollment, or availability. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Maintenance, security incidents, provider availability, weather, building access, and third-party services can affect performance.
12. Disclaimers and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided on an “as available” basis without warranties not expressly stated in an accepted request-specific agreement. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded. Liability allocation for paid work may be further addressed in request-specific terms. Do not rely on website content as legal, engineering, code-compliance, safety, or professional advice.
13. Suspension and termination
Access may be restricted or terminated for security risk, fraud, abuse, nonpayment, role manipulation, unsafe conduct, legal requirements, or material violation of these Terms. Provisions that logically survive—such as payment obligations, records, intellectual-property rights, disclaimers, and dispute-related terms—continue as applicable.
14. Governing rules and contact
Applicable federal, New York State, and New York City law governs regardless of these Terms. Any forum, arbitration, waiver, or claim procedure must be stated in a separately verified legal agreement; this website does not invent one.
Use the contact and routing page for the current legal-notice path. Verified operator identity, direct notice address, and domain-specific contact details must be completed before public production transactions begin.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version. Material changes may require additional notice or renewed acceptance where appropriate.
